Stepney's brother, Boxhill, is an LBSCR 0-6-0T (for a time a 4-2-0T) A1 from 1872 who retained his original boiler, although he received a new funnel from the Southern Railway. He was converted to 2-4-0T in March 1905 for auto-train trials. He was restored to 0-6-0T in 1913. Thomas met Boxhill during his visit to the National Railway Museum and it is mentioned that they knew each other in the old days.

Boxhill is painted in the "Improved Engine Green" livery of the LBSCR.
