Pretty Polly was an LNER engine mentioned by the Elderly Brakevan in the annual story Galloping Sausage. It was named after a racehorse; the van commenting that it was a silly name for an engine. Built in 1925 as an A1 class locomotive, it was converted to an A3 in 1944. Originally numbered 2560, it was later renumbered 61, becoming 60061 under British Railways. It was scrapped in 1963.
