Flora is a bright yellow steam tram who first appears in the twelfth season.
Bio
When Flora came to the Island, She had to help lead the Great Waterton parade with Toby, but Thomas was worried so he takes her on a wild goose chase, until she runs out of coal, Toby was actually happy to have Flora's help with the parade.Thomas,Toby and Flora arrived in time for the parade, the Green Tram coach was so beautiful that Flora had her pride and joy, as Toby and Flora lead the parade, Thomas was happy to have a new good friend in Flora.
Persona
Flora likes to be helpful and enthusiastic like all the engines on Sodor. She can also be interested in everything there is to see, Flora can be happy to help her friends, like Toby for one.
Appearances
Flora makes her first appearance in the Season 12 episode "Tram Trouble", where Thomas shows her all his jobs and around the island then she helps Toby with a parade in Great Waterton.
Basis
Flora is based upon a 1904 Moseley Road Tramway steam tram, rebuilt into the same gauge as standard gauge engines. Instead of buffers, she has 4 single chain couplings upon her front and rear buffer beam where 2 front and rear buffers would be. She has a horizontal boiler which can be seen through her windows all around her.
Her class of loco was originally built to run tests on the Tramways in New South Wales, Australia. The company didn't like the loco and so sent it back.
Livery
Flora is painted bright yellow with green lining, red cowcatchers and sideplates and green boards on her roof reading "Sodor Tramways" not same like Toby.
Trivia
- Flora is the eighth engine in the TV Series and Railway Series to have a yellow livery.
- Flora is one of the few engines to have no buffers.
- Flora is also the third engine to have cowcatchers and sideplates. The first two are Toby and Mavis.
- Flora is also the third steam engine to have a cowcatcher. The first two are Toby and Hank.
- Flora is also the fifth female character to have a flower-type name. The first four are Daisy, Bluebell, Primrose and Rosie.
- Flora is the eighth female steam engine on Sodor. The first seven are Bluebell and Primrose, Duchess of Hamilton, Lady, Emily, Molly and Rosie. She is also the tenth female engine on Sodor when Daisy and Mavis are counted.
- Flora is the third tramway engine on Sodor, the first two being Toby and Mavis.
- Flora is the second railway engine to have windows all around her body (the first being Daisy).
